Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino was left frustrated by his side’s first-half display in their Europa Conference League play-off first leg, which ended in a 3-3 home draw at home to Puskas.
The visiting team from Hungary took the lead with two goals from Zolt Nagy in the 9th minute (penalty), followed by a goal from Mikel Sojsalo in the 12th minute, but the team took the lead brilliantly from Riccardo Sottil in the 45+3 minute, Lucas Martinez Quarta in the 67th minute and Moise Kean in the 75th minute, but eventually conceded a goal to Wojciech Golla, ending the first game in a draw.
The head coach of the “Purple Giants” admitted that he was speechless with the team’s performance in the first half, especially in the beginning when they conceded two goals in a row. Fortunately, the team rallied back again, even though it was disappointing that they were tie again.
“It was a very bad start to the game, it’s obvious and it’s hard to explain. We made a mistake, which I didn’t see in training, a big mistake that put us 2-0 down,” Palladino told Sky Sport Italia.
“Then we did well to stay in the game, starting with Riccardo’s goal before half-time and I liked the attitude in the second half. We had a very different approach, Promotion Ufabet were hungry and turned the game around. It’s a shame we concede a goal when a player went off injury, but we shouldn’t have conceded that goal.”
“There are still many things to improve. We don’t have a clear character and it’s easy to make mistakes. It’s that situation. We have to analyze everything and realize that we have to start the game with the right attitude.”
